Turnhout - Nieuwe Erven

An old industrial site has made a transition into a small scale new social neighbourhood. Five clusters are constellated in an urban scheme, where collective and private gardens form the new backbone towards existing hinterlands.

The public domain hosts agreable outdoor spaces for families to settle. A sustainable basis as furtile ground to appropriate this new quarter.

Common gardens, bike sheds, garden walls and small trails in between the different volumes shape and structure the intervention in a gentle way. Outdoor rooms serve as private & communal spaces that mark the soft borders in this urban setting.
